Forensic Science

Our Forensic Science Incursion engages primary school children with scientific techniques that demonstrate how science works in the real world.

The context of a scientific investigation brings science to life and stimulates interest at a young age. Schools can incorporate our Forensic Science Incursion into a memorable school science week or as part of a team building exercise.

A crime has been committed and it is the responsibility of each class to work together to piece together the evidence. This workshop is suitable for all primary school children; however our younger investigators are always reassured that the story is make believe.

Once inside our crime scene our young teams must tape off the area in order to protect any evidence that may be found. Clues and evidence must be identified, collected, interpreted and analysed.

This includes finding, developing and characterising fingerprints, investigating tool marks and other impressions, identifying hairs and fibres and investigating blood, bones and DNA
