Hanna Mannila is a London based dance artist. She was first trained in ballet and jazz dance in Finland, and later in Indian classical kathak dance at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in London with Sushmita Ghosh and Abhay Shankar Mishra, finishing her Diploma course with Distinction in 2001. She has also received training from renowned kathak artists including Pt. Birju Maharaj, Shaswati Sen, Nahid Siddiqui, Kumudini Lakhia and Aditi Mangaldas. She performed her solo debut in kathak in 2006 after intensive training in India with Sushmita Ghosh. Hanna also holds a Master’s degree in South Asian Studies (Hindi and Sanskrit language, history, religions, literature and arts of India).
Hanna has been teaching kathak and bollywood incursions as well as regular kathak classes in and around London since 2003. She has also performed extensively in Australia, as well as in India, Europe and the US, and has worked in numerous productions by the major UK based South Asian dance organisations.
